Privacy policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to JobConnects.org ("we," "our" or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services.

Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information You Disclose to Us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

The personal information we collect may include:

2.2 Information Automatically Collected

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use or navigate the Platform:

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

With employers. When you apply for a job, your CV and application go to that employer. Your contact details stay hidden until you choose to share them.

With job seekers. A job you post as an employer is public.

With the companies that run parts of the service for us. Each one is named here, along with what reaches it and nothing more:

Business transfers. If the business is sold or merged, records move with it.

Legal requirements. Where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people using the platform.

With your consent, for anything else.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Visiting this site sets no cookies. Sign in state is kept in your own browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, and it is never sent anywhere except back to us when you make a request.

The only cookies we ever set are from Google Analytics, and only if you have agreed to it. We do not use advertising or targeting cookies, we run no tracking pixels, and we do not share browsing data with advertisers or data brokers.

Separately from that, our own server counts how many people open each page. It stores no cookie, no IP address and nothing about your device, and the secret it uses to tell one visitor from another is discarded every midnight, so visits cannot be joined up across days. That is why it needs no agreement. Section 3 of our Cookie Policy explains it in full.

You can give or withdraw that agreement at any time using the Cookie choices link in the footer. Our Cookie Policy lists exactly what is stored and for how long.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We would rather tell you what actually happens than quote a schedule we do not keep.

While your account exists, we keep your information. We do not currently delete accounts automatically for being unused, so nothing of yours disappears without you asking. If we ever introduce automatic deletion for long dormant accounts, we will say so here and write to you before anything is removed.

When you ask us to delete your account, we act on it straight away. What is removed and what is kept is set out in section 8, in full.

Job postings stay until the employer closes or removes them. An expired posting stops being listed but the record remains on the employer's account.

Records of payments are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to be able to produce them, and they are not removed when an account is deleted.

Backups. We take database backups on a rolling schedule and they age out automatically: daily copies after 14 days, weekly after about two months, and the longest held copy after about twelve months. Backups are written once and never edited, so if you delete your account, a backup taken beforehand still contains your information until that backup reaches the end of the schedule and is deleted. Backups are only ever used to restore the service after a failure.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@jobconnects.org. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account from your own account settings. You only have to ask once. The deletion then runs automatically, and you can only ever request it for the account you are signed in to.

Deleting your account removes:

Some records are kept, and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise. Payments are kept for the accounting and tax periods described above, with your identity detached from them. We also keep a small record that a deletion happened, holding only an account reference, the dates and the outcome, so we can show the request was carried out. That record contains none of your personal information.

Deletion is not reversible, and it does not reach copies that are no longer ours. An employer who already received and downloaded your application holds that copy as their own data controller. If you want an employer to delete it, you need to contact that employer directly.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Platform is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete such information.

10. International Data Transfers

The business operates from Pakistan. The servers holding your information, and the companies listed in section 4, are located in several countries, so your information is processed outside the country you are in.

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, this means your information leaves that area. Where the law requires a safeguard for such a transfer, we rely on the standard contractual terms offered by each of those companies.

The one transfer that is entirely your choice is measurement. Google receives nothing about you unless you agreed to it, and you can withdraw that at any time using the Cookie choices link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy.

If you want to know more about how a particular transfer is protected, write to support@jobconnects.org and we will tell you.

11. Third-Party Links

Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

12. CVs, applications and what employers see

When you apply for a role, the employer who posted it receives your application, including your profile, your CV and anything you wrote in your application. Employers holding a paid package may also search candidate profiles and view CVs of candidates who have made themselves discoverable.

Once an employer has received your application, they hold a copy of it as a separate data controller. Deleting your JobConnects account removes your data from our platform, but it does not delete applications an employer already received and downloaded. If you want an employer to delete your data, contact that employer directly.

13. Automated processing

We use automated processing to rank and match candidates against a role, to summarise applications for employers, and to help draft job descriptions, CVs and cover letters.

These are assistive tools. No hiring decision is made automatically by the platform. Employers decide who to shortlist, interview and hire. Matching scores are guidance for a human, not an outcome.

14. Our mobile application

Our Android application collects the same information as the website, and contains no advertising or third party tracking of any kind.

It asks for these permissions, each only when the feature that needs it is used, and you can decline any of them:

15. Programme members

If you join our referral, ambassador, marketing internship or partner programme, we additionally record your referral link activity, the customers introduced through it, and the commission owed to you. Where the law requires tax to be deducted before we pay you, we will also collect the identification and tax registration details needed to make that payment lawfully.

16. Google account data

Some features work by connecting your own Google account. Connecting one is always your choice, nothing about the product requires it, and every feature that uses one has a way to work without it. This section says exactly what we receive, what we do with it, and how to end it.

What we ask for, and why

What we keep

The access keys Google gives us are encrypted before they are stored and are never shown to anybody, including our own staff. From Calendar we keep the identifier of each event we created and its meeting link, so that rescheduling and cancelling work. From Contacts we keep only a phone number, written onto the business contact record it belongs to. We do not copy your address book, and we do not keep a separate list of it.

What we never do

We do not sell data received from Google APIs. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. We do not transfer it to anybody else except where you have asked us to, where the law requires it, or to a service provider processing it on our behalf under contract.

Limited Use

JobConnects.org's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Ending it

You can disconnect a Google account at any time in Settings. Disconnecting tells Google to withdraw our access and deletes the stored keys at our end immediately. You can also withdraw it yourself from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Interviews already arranged keep working; we simply stop being able to change the calendar entry for them.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent notice on the Platform.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when posted on this page.
